Bacon Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 c milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 8 strips bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled
  • 1 c cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg

Directions

  1. Fry the bacon. Set aside on a paper towel.
  2. Grate the cheese.
  3. Heat the toaster oven to 425 degrees F.
  4. In a large bowl add the flour, baking powder, salt, paprika, and onion powder.
  5. Whisk to blend.
  6. Make a well in the center of the bowl and add the milk, butter, bacon and cheese.
  7. Mix gently with a wooden spoon. The dough will be wet and sticky.
  8. Using a 1/4 cup measure, portion the batter onto a baking sheet, leaving an inch or so around each biscuit.
  9. In a small bowl, beat the egg with a splash of water.
  10. Then brush this mixture on the top of each biscuit.
  11. Bake in the oven until the biscuits are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center of one comes out clean, 20 to 22 minutes.
