Holiday Cookies + Healthy Substitutes
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened (left at room temperature for an hour before using)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sprinkles (or mini chocolate chips)
- 1/2 cup holiday M&Ms
Instructions

- Preheat oven to 350.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, oil and sugars together. (either with fork or electric mixer)
- Add eggs and beat until fluffy. (either with fork or electric mixer)
- Add baking soda, salt, powder, vanilla and flour.
- Mix well. (either with fork, rubber spatula, or electric mixer)
- Fold in sprinkles with a rubber spatula
- Use cookie scoop (or roll into about 1 1/2 inch balls) and put on greased cookie tray or parchment paper.
- Top with 4-5 M&Ms.
- Bake at 350 for 7-8 minutes.
- Let cool completely before removing from tray.
Notes
Choose one substitution from the list below to use in the recipe:
- Use 1/4 cup applesauce (instead of 1/4 cup oil)
- Use 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/3 cup white sugar (instead of 1/2 cup of the sugars)
- Use 3/4 cup whole wheat flour and 3/4 cup white flour (instead of all 1 1/2 cups white flour)
- Use1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce + 1 tsp baking powder (instead of 1 egg)
