We learned so many new cooking terms this week in intermediate cooking. It was hard to choose a recipe since we had so many possibilities! After voting, we decided to try an Asian/American recipe where we will practice steaming.
Ingredients
- 2 Containers of biscuit dough
- 1 pound Pulled pork
- Barbeque Sauce, to preference
- Coleslaw, to preference
Directions
Making the Buns:
- To begin halve each biscuit dough.
- Place on parchment paper and press your palm down to flatten biscuits into oval shape.
- Fold the biscuit dough in half.
- Keep loosely covered with clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
- Put as many as you can in steamer, but make sure that they are an inch apart.
- Cover and steam for 10-12 minutes, or until they are puffy or white.
- After the buns are steamed it is time to assemble the bao buns.
Assembling the Bao Buns:
- Open up the Bao Buns.
- Place the pulled pork on the inside of the opened bao buns.
- Add barbeque sauce and some coleslaw to finish.
Servings: 16 small bao buns
