Snickerdoodle Cookies

 

Snickerdoodle Cookie Cut Outs

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl or hand mixer
  • 1 Toaster oven or oven
  • 1 Large Bowl
  • 1 Small bowl

Materials

Cookies

  • 2 Sticks Butter
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 3 Cups Flour

Topping

  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon

Instructions

  • Plug in a toaster oven
  • Preheat the toaster oven to 350

Mixing

  • Get out a large bowl
  • Soften 2 sticks of butter
  • Pour the 2 sticks of butter into the large bowl
  • Pour the 1 cup of sugar into the large bowl
  • Get out a hand mixer
  • Plug in the hand mixer
  • Cream the butter and sugar on medium-high till mixed, or 3 minutes
  • Turn off the hand mixer
  • Add the 1 tablespoon of vanilla to the large bowl
  • Add the 1 egg to the large bowl
  • Use the hand mixer to mix the ingredients
  • Mix ingredients in the large bowl until light and fully, about 3 minutes
  • Turn off the hand mixer
  • Add 2 teaspoons of baking powder to the large bowl
  • Add the 3 cups of flour to the large bowl
  • Mix the flour and baking powder into the large bowl
  • Use the hand mixer to mix until all ingredients are combined
  • Turn off and unplug the hand mixer
  • The dough should be firm, not dry or crumbly

Topping

  • Take out a small bowl
  • Pour 3 tablespoons of sugar into the small bowl
  • Pour 1 tablespoon of cinnamon into the small bowl
  • Use a spoon to mix together the ingredients in the small bowl

Combining

  • Roll out all cookie dough flat on a clean surface
  • Leave about medium thickness, about 1 centimeter thick
  • Cover the cookie dough with the cinnamon sugar topping
  • Sprinkle the topping equally over the cookie dough
  • Cut out the cookies with cookie cutters
  • Place shaped cookies onto a cooking pan
  • Place the cooking pan into the oven
  • Bake the cookies for 6-9 minutes
  • Take the cookies out before the edges start browning
  • Let the cookies cool
  • Once the cookies are cool you can decorate them!

No Bake Pumpkin Pie

Equipment

  • 1 Handmixer or whisk
  • 1 Large Bowl

Materials

  • 1 cup Pumpkin puree
  • 3.4 ounces Instant vanilla pudding
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Pumpkin pie spice
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip
  • 1 Pie crust 9-inch

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup of pumpkin puree to a large bowl
  • Add 3.4 ounces of pudding to the large bowl
  • Add 1/4 cup of milk to the large bowl
  • Add 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice to a large bowl
  • Place whisks in a hand mixer
  • Turn on the hand mixer
  • Mix all the ingredients until smooth
  • Carefully fold in 8 ounces of Cool Whip
  • Pull out pie crust
  • Pour ingredients from the large bowl into the pie crust
  • Place pie in the refrigerator to chill before serving
  • Chill until it sets enough to slice or 3 hours

Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Gravy

 

Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Savory Gravy

  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 Medium Saucepan
  • 1 Collander or Strainer
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Mixing bowl or hand mixer
  • 1 Hot Plate

Materials

Potatoes

  • 5 Pound bag Potatoes
  • 4 Tablespoons Softened Butter
  • 2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 4 Teaspoons Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese

Gravy

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons Flour
  • 3 Cups Broth
  • 2 Teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper

Instructions

Making Mashed Potatoes

  • Peel potatoes
  • Chop potatoes
  • Place potatoes in a pot
  • Fill the pot with water
  • Pull out a hotplate
  • Turn the hot plate on high
  • Place the pot of potatoes on the hot plate
  • Bring the pot to boil
  • Reduce hot plate heat to medium
  • Cook until tender, 10-12 minutes
  • Strain the pot
  • Turn off the hot plate
  • Unplug the hot plate
  • Add 4 Tablespoons of butter to the pot
  • Cream the butter and potatoes with a mixer
  • Add one cup of heavy cream to the pot
  • Add 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese to the pot
  • Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the pot
  • Add 4 teaspoons of garlic to the pot
  • Mix the potatoes together until creamy

Making Savory Gravy

  • Plug in the hot plate
  • Turn the hot plate to medium heat
  • Place a medium pan on the hot plate
  • Add 4 Tablespoons of butter to the pan
  • Wait for the butter to melt
  • Add 4 Tablespoons of flour to the pan
  • Whisk flour and butter until smooth
  • Add 3 cups of broth to the pan
  • Increase the hot plate to medium-high heat
  • Whisk pan constantly
  • Add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce to the pan
  • Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the pan
  • Add 1 teaspoon of sugar to the pan
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to the pan
  • Whisk ingredients for several minutes until the gravy thickens
  • Cover the pan
  • Remove the pan from the hot plate
  • Turn off the hot plate
  • Unplug the hot plate

Potatoes and gravy

  • Serve the gravy over the garlic mashed potatoes

“Salad Bar” Garden Salads with Homemade Vinaigrette

Recipe Notes:
For this recipe, we are going to practice our knife safety skills. Don’t forget to use “the claw” cutting method. Also note that on this recipe that there are steps you must take to prepare the vegetables before the “instructions” start. Our tip is to make a list of everything you have to do if you feel overwhelmed!

Ingredients for Salad

  • 3-4 heads of Romaine Lettuce, washed and chopped into bite size pieces
  • 2 containers of Grape Tomatoes, washed and halved
  • 2 Cucumbers, washed and sliced in to 1/4 inch circles
  • 2 Carrot, washed, peeled, and julienned
  • 1 Red Onion, havled and THINLY sliced
  • 3 c Cheddar Cheese, grated
  • 3 c Croutons (any flavor)

Ingredients for Dressing

  • 3 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 9 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 3/4 tsp Table Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep all vegetables
  2. Set up “salad bar,” placing all ingredients for salad in a row.
  3. Have each person make individual bowls of salad, selecting the vegetable toppings that each person likes or wants to try.
  4. Add 1/4 c of cheese and 1/4 c of croutons per serving as to leave enough cheese and croutons for everyone.
  5. Add 1 tbsp of the vinaigrette and mix.
  6. Enjoy!
