Bavarian Pretzel Sandwich (From "Girl Dinner: Super Simple Meals for Chill Nights In")

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper to line the baking sheet with
  • 1 Basting Brush
  • Tablespoon (Tbsp) measuring spoon
  • Teaspoon (tsp) measuring spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 Frozen soft pretzel, thawed Make sure it is thawed
  • 1/4 Tbsp German mustard or whole grain brown mustard
  • 1/2 tsp Mayonnaise
  • 2 Slices Black forest ham
  • 1 Slice Gouda cheese
  • 1 Tbsp Water For adding the salt to the pretzel, using the basting brush

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Carefully slice your thawed pretzel in half, crosswise, using a serrated knife.
  • Combine the mustard and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Then Spread the mixture on the bottom half of your pretzel.
  • Top with 2 ham slices, 1 cheese slice, and place the top half of the pretzel on top.
  • Place your sandwich on to the prepared baking sheet. Using the basting brush and 1/4 Tbsp of water, brush the top of the sandwiches with water. Sprinkle with salt from packet.
  • Place into your preheated oven, and bake for 8 minutes, or until cheese is melted to your liking.

Notes

For cold sandwiches, bake the pretzel according to package directions. When they are cool enough to handle, slice them and top with the sandwich fillings.
