Basic Yellow Cake - from Scratch

Ingredients
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup milk (room temperature)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan
- Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder
- Cream together (Beat) butter and white sugar until fluffy and light in color
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
- Stir in vanilla
- Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture
- Add the milk to the ingredients
- Stir until just blended
- Pour batter into prepared pan
- Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes (until cake springs back when lightly touched)
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing from pan and placing on a wire rack to cool completely
