Nicknamed “The Picky Hicky” this marinade uses a blend of sweet and savory flavors. A marinade is a sauce that soaks meats and vegetables to create more flavor and better texture. Learning about marinades is great considering summer is around the corner…and what’s better than grilling out?
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of pickle juice
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
Directions
- In a bowl, add the pickle juice, honey, olive oil, chopped cilantro, and finely chopped onion.
- Mix well to ensure that the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Place your desired meat, such as chicken, pork, or beef, in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
- Pour the marinade over the meat.
- If using a plastic bag, seal tight and remove excess air. If using a dish, cover with plastic wrap.
- Place the marinated meat in the fridge, letting it marinate for at least an hour.
- Next, take out of fridge and let it sit on counter for 15 minutes before cooking
- Cook the meat according to preference. This would be a great time to reference a previous recipe on IGNITE cooks: “Three Ways to Cook Chicken.”
- After cooking, let sit for a few minutes. This lets the juices distribute evenly.
- Garnish with extra cilantro if desired and enjoy!
